Ghost Dog:
The Way of the Samurai is found in death. Meditation on inevitable death should be performed daily. Every day, when one's body and mind are at peace, one should meditate upon being ripped apart by arrows, rifles, spears, and swords, being carried away by surging waves, being thrown into the midst of a great fire, being struck by lightning, being shaken to death by a great earthquake, falling from thousand-foot cliffs, dying of disease or committing seppuku at the death of one's master. And every day, without fail, one should consider himself as dead. This is the substance of the Way of the Samurai.

NIN - March Of The Pigs

NIN - With Teeth BBC Session

NIN - Heresy

NIN - Mr Self Destruct

NIN - Piggy

NIN - Wish

NIN - The Warning

Korn - A.D.I.D.A.S

Jonathan Davis - Not Meant For Me

Jonathan Davis - System

"Jonathan Davis was the last member to join the band. James 'Munky' Shaffer and Brian 'Head' Welch discovered him in a bar, initially intending to only stay for a few minutes. Upon seeing Davis performing with his then-band Sexart, however, they were compelled to stay for the whole set, and as soon as the set was over Brian and James approached Davis with an offer to join their then band L.A.P.D.. At first he didn't accept the offer, but upon consulting a psychic, he agreed, and Korn was born. In early years, he was known for wearing a variety of normal and customized Adidas tracksuits onstage, which became a kind of "trademark" for all Korn fans."

*Yeah, thanks Wikipedia for that one. Psssh, whatever! Korn rocks...

Motley Crue - Ten Seconds To Love

Motley Crue - Too Fast For Love

"The band has often been noted for their hard-living lifestyles; all members have had numerous brushes with the law, spent time in jail, suffered long addictions to alcohol and drugs, and they are heavily tattooed. Their ninth studio album as well as the movie to their best selling autobiography The Dirt is due to be released in 2009."

*Just wait honey, until I tell the boys about you...

The Faint - Desperate Guys

The Faint - Agenda Suicide

"The Faint is an indie rock/synth pop band. Formed in Omaha, Nebraska, The Faint was originally known as Norman Bailer, a reference to Norman Mailer."

Flogging Molly - Salty Dog

"Flogging Molly is a seven-piece Irish American punk band, that formed in Los Angeles and is currently signed under SideOneDummy Records. Their music includes many references to the Roman Catholic Church and ranges from boisterous punk rock like the pirate-themed "Salty Dog" and "Seven Deadly Sins," or the defiant "What's Left of the Flag", "With a Wonder and a Wild Desire", "Drunken Lullabies", and "Rebels of the Sacred Heart" to more sombre songs like "Far Away Boys", "The Sun Never Shines (On Closed Doors)", or "Death Valley Queen"."

*Aye, Lads and Lasses. You can surely kiss my Irish ass on this one...

Guns n Roses - You Ain't The First

"Guns N' Roses is an American hard rock band, formed in Los Angeles, California in 1985. The band's musical style, onstage presence and bad boy rock image helped usher in a new era of the dominant hard rock and heavy metal scene of the late 1980s and early 1990s."

I tried so hard just to get through to you
But your head's so far
from the realness of truth
Was it just a come on in the dark
Wasn't meant to last long
I think you've worn your welcome honey
I'll just see you along as I sing you this song

Time can pass slowly,
things always change
You day's been numbered
And I've read your last page
You was just a temporary lover
Honey you ain't the first
Lots of others came before you woman
Said but you been the worst
Sa' you been the worst

*Once again, you know who you are...

Ghost Dog:
Our bodies are given life from the midst of nothingness. Existing where there is nothing is the meaning of the phrase, "form is emptiness." That all things are provided for by nothingness is the meaning of the phrase, "Emptiness is form." One should not think that these are two separate things.

Jay Z - 99 Problems

"Shawn Corey Carter (born December 4, 1969 in Brooklyn, New York) better known by his stage name Jay Z, is an American rapper and current president and CEO of Def Jam and Roc-A-Fella Records. In addition, he co-owns The 40/40 Club, and is co-owner of the New Jersey Nets NBA team."

*If you're having girl problems, I feel bad for you son.... No shit! I may have tons and tons of failed relationshits, but girl problems... I'll stick with my 99 problems...

Portishead - All Mine

"Portishead (IPA: /pɔːtɪsˈhɛd/) is a trip hop band from Bristol, England, named after the town of Portishead, 12 miles (19.3 km) west of Bristol. With their use of live jazz samples and intentionally lo-fi sound, the band has been cited as influential by many modern musicians."

*I was really introduced to Portishead when I was in Hong Kong. I remember the little pirated music shop I bought the disc at. Then I stuck it in my ever so cool Discman, and wandered all around the city buying art and knicknacks. Got really trashed in the evening and had to have some locals point me back to my lodging. One of the better days I have had in my life.

Sonic Youth - Dirty Boots

"Sonic Youth is an American alternative rock group formed in New York City in 1981. The group's lineup today is essentially the core of the group, having been together since 1985, comprising Thurston Moore (guitars and vocals) Lee Ranaldo (guitars, vocals and organ) Kim Gordon (bass guitar, guitar, and vocals) and Steve Shelley (drums)."

*I was fortunate enough to watch them perform way back in the day, with L7, Beastie Boys. First concert I floated on the crowd. Eh, I told this story way too many times before.

The Beatles - Yesterday (Acoustic Demo)

"The Beatles were an English group of musicians from Liverpool whose members were John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. They are one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed bands in the history of popular music.

In the United Kingdom, The Beatles released more than 40 different singles, albums, and EPs that reached number one. This commercial success was repeated in many other countries: their record company, EMI, estimated that by 1985 they had sold over one billion discs and tapes worldwide. The Beatles are the best-selling musical act of all time in the United States, according to the Recording Industry Association of America."

*I have nothing further to add. Besides that they rock!

The Little Ones - Lovers Who Uncover

"The Little Ones' indie pop tunes, which feature tambourines and handclaps, have garnered them comparisons to 1960s pop bands such as The Beach Boys, The Zombies, The Kinks, modern-day pop group The Shins, and the Elephant Six collective."

*And all the indie kids clap their hands and say "Yay!"

Nada Surf - Popular

"Nada Surf is an American alternative rock / indie rock group formed in 1992. The New York band consists of Matthew Caws (guitar, vocals), Ira Elliot (drums, backup vocals) and Daniel Lorca (bass, backup vocals).

The band is perhaps best-known for the song "Popular" from their 1996 album High/Low.

Each of the verses in "Popular" presents, in spoken word format, sarcastic advice to teens. Initially offered in a calm, deadpan voice, the lyrics gradually build Kinison-style in teen angst and rage."

The Misfits - Attitude

"The band often wore corpse paint when performing, and bassist Jerry Only reputedly invented a hairstyle called the devilock(variation of the tidal wave hairstyle) with the front coming to a point in front of the nose or chin, a style still worn by fans (A.K.A. Fiends) today and contributed to the foundation of Horror punk."

*The original line up is still my all time favorite Misfits. I just missed their show now twice. Once in Houston and once in the Miami area. That really sucks. though, my friend Marty got to see them in Houston. I hope he remember to get me something from the show. Bastard! Also, 'Devilock' is where I got my myspace name for a bit. Devilock just sounds cool.

Andrew Bird - Fake Palindromes

Andrew Bird - Opposite Day

*David likes Andrew Bird.

Richard Cheese - She Hates Me

Richard Cheese - Loser

"Richard Cheese & Lounge Against the Machine is a cover band and comedy act based in Los Angeles, California, playing popular rap, rock, metal, and pop songs in a swanky lounge music style.

Anger is a Gift

Ghost Dog:
There is something to be learned from a rainstorm. When meeting with a sudden shower, you try not to get wet and run quickly along the road. But doing such things as passing under the eaves of houses, you still get wet. When you are resolved from the beginning, you will not be perplexed, though you still get the same soaking. This understanding extends to everything.

*Author's note:
Yeah, I've got nothing. Well, music. At least I've got music

Chris Cornell - Sunshower

Chris Cornell - Like Suicide (Acoustic)

"Chris Cornell (born Christopher John Boyle on July 20, 1964) is an American musician best known as the lead singer, guitarist and songwriter of the rock bands Soundgarden (1984-1997) and Audioslave (2001-2007). He was the founder and frontman for Temple of the Dog, the one-off tribute band dedicated to his former roommate, Andrew Wood, and has released two solo albums, Euphoria Morning (1999) and Carry On (2007)."

Tool - Undertow

Your Maynard moment for the day. I ♥ Maynard!

Gone under two times.
I've been struck dumb by a voice that

Speaks from deep
Beneath the cold black water.
It's twice as clear as heaven,
and twice as loud as reason.
Deep and rich like silt on a riverbed
and just as undisturbing.

The currents mouth below me, opens up around me.
Suggests and beckons all while swallowing.
It surrounds and drowns and sweeps me away.

But I'm so comfortable...Too comfortable...

Ahhhh...

RATM - People Of The Sun

RATM - Freedom

RATM - Revolver

"Rage Against the Machine (also Rage and RATM) is an American rock band, noted for their blend of hip hop, heavy metal, punk and funk as well as their revolutionary politics and lyrics. During their initial nine year run, they became one of the most popular and influential political bands in contemporary music.

The band split up in 2000, with vocalist Zack de la Rocha starting a low-key solo career, and guitarist Tom Morello, bassist Tim Commerford and drummer Brad Wilk forming the supergroup Audioslave along with former Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell. In April 2007 Rage Against the Machine performed together for the first time in seven years at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. The band has continued to perform multiple live venues since."

I don't think I have met anybody worth a shit, that didn't like Rage Against The Machine... de la Rocha's rhyming style is the fucking shit. FREEEDOM!

Nine Inch Nails - Kinda I Want To

*I really shouldn't have to explain my addiction with NIN...

Can't shake this feeling from my head.
There's a devil sleeping in my bed.
He's watching you from across the way.
I cannot make this feeling go away

I know it's not the right thing.
And I know it's not the good thing.
but kinda I want to

I'm not sure of what I should do.
When every thought I'm thinking of is you.
All of my excuses turn to lies.
Maybe God will cover up his eyes

Maybe just for tonight.
We can pretend it's alright.
What's the price I pay.
I don't care what they say.
I want to.
I want to (I'll take my chance tonight)

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Kiss Kiss

"Karen Lee Orzołek, better known as Karen O (born November 22, 1978 in South Korea), is the lead vocalist for the New York art punk band Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

Karen O has been noted for her sense of fashion, wearing over-the-top outfits made by her friend, fashion designer Christian Joy. She is also well known for her outrageous antics during live shows, which include spitting water, beer, or sometimes grapes into the crowd, and often simulating sexual acts with the stage monitors or her microphone. Her on-stage antics have been compared to punk legends like Iggy Pop and Patti Smith."

*MmmmmHmmmm, I still love me some Karen O. She's nummy...

Tricky - Overcome

"Adrian Thaws (born January 27, 1968), better known as Tricky, is an English trip hop musician in the British music scene (despite loathing the "trip hop" tag). He is noted for a whispering lyrical style that is half-rapped, half-sung. As a producer and a musician, he is noted for a dark, rich and layered sound. Culturally, Tricky bridges white and black Britain, particularly in his fusion of rock and hip hop, high art and pop culture."

*I believe it was Martina Topley who sang backup in Overcome. Mmmmmm, she is dreamy...

twice as clear as heaven

Ghost Dog:
It is bad when one thing becomes two. One should not look for anything else in the Way of the Samurai. It is the same for anything that is called a Way. If one understands things in this manner, he should be able to hear about all ways and be more and more in accord with his own.

*Author's note:
Um, I think Ghost Dog said it better than I could...

NOFX - "Hot Dog In A Hallway"

"NOFX is an American punk rock band formed in Los Angeles, California (now based in San Francisco), in 1983.

*Reason number 502 why I love NOFX:
"For years the band has consented to very few interviews and have only made a few music videos, citing the fact that they do not need any more exposure and that people were exploiting them. In recent years Fat Mike has consented to more interviews, including four different interviews with Nardwuar between 2002 and 2006. The band has also refused permission for their music videos to be played on MTV, VH1, and similar music channels, although they made a live appearance on NBC’s Late Night with Conan O'Brien in 2004. The credits on the album Heavy Petting Zoo call on MTV, along with major labels, to "leave them the fuck alone."

Dub Pistols - "Gangsters"

"Dub Pistols are a London dub music band, founded by ex-club promoter Barry Ashworth in 1996. The other members of the band are record producer Lee Spencer, guitarist John King, bassist Jason O'Bryan, programmer Bill Borez and turntablist Malcolm Wax."

*I really like the reggae sound that comes from Gangsters. But, I have always been a sucker for that genre of music. Something about it always strikes a nerve. I get that 'gangster' step when I hear music like this. Or I imagine myself walking through a middle of a club in Florida. Checkin' out the honeys, and givin' guys the *nod*

Mother Love Bone - "Chloe Dancer (Crown of Thorns)"

"Mother Love Bone was a Seattle based rock band active from 1988 to 1990. Frontman Andrew Wood's personality and compositions helped to catapult the group to the top of the burgeoning late 80's/early 90's Seattle music scene. Tragically, Wood died only days before the release of their debut album Apple thus ending the group's hopes of success."

Buck 65 - "Shutter Buggin'"

"Richard Terfry (b. 1972), better known as Buck 65, is a Canadian hip hop artist, MC and turntablist. However he has recently moved away from hip hop in a stylistic context, and moving closer to blues, country, rock, folk and avant garde genres. That said, his new direction is seemingly still underpinned by an extensive background in abstract hip hop, his trademark rhyme-phrasing and lyrical aspiration evident in the altered timbre vocal delivery displayed in his more recent releases."

*I think Dick's sh*t is pretty cool none the less.

Eels - "Your Lucky Day In Hell"

Massive Attack - "Angel"

Massive Attack - "Dissolved Girl"

Massive Attack - "Teardrop"

"Massive Attack began as an offshoot of the popular mid-1980s sound system The Wild Bunch. The core group consisted of three members, Robert Del Naja ("3D"), Grant Marshall ("Daddy G") and Andrew Vowles ("Mushroom"), along with occasional Wild Bunch collaborator (and also Del Naja's roommate) Tricky."

I ♥ Massive Attack!

Local H - "Bound For The Floor"

"Local H is a Grunge band, formed by Scott Lucas (lead vocals, guitar, bass) and Joe Daniels (drums). The two began playing together in their Illinois high school in 1987. After failed attempts at recruiting a bassist, Lucas took the unique approach of adding bass pickups to his electric guitar."

I always thought Local H rocked. I wouldn't really consider them as "Grunge," but whatever, "Grunge" bands don't like to be considered "grunge." So, yes Local H rocks. We got that. I think that some of their later efforts got kinda over-looked. I will be adding more of their stuff to my catalogue here, later.

Elastica - "Stutter"

"Elastica was formed during the summer of 1992 by ex-Suede guitarist Justine Frischmann and ex-Spitfire and Suede drummer Justin Welch. By the autumn of that year, bassist Annie Holland and guitarist Donna Matthews (ex-Darling Buds) were added. After initially rehearsing, recording and gigging under names such as Vaseline and Onk, the band settled on the name Elastica in early 1993.

Their first single was 1993's "Stutter", which benefited from the promotional efforts of BBC Radio 1 DJ and Deceptive Records label boss Steve Lamacq who had discovered the band earlier in the year."

*As for myself, I've always had a 'thing' for Justine Frischmann. She has that little bobbed hair cut, with a little bit falling around her eyes. Just nummy... Freakin' wankers, I always seem to like the freaky - deaky wankers...

Act Now To Get This

Sonny Valerio:
If a warrior's head were to be suddenly cut off, he should still be able to perform one more action with certainty.
What the fuck does that mean?

Ray Vargo:
It's poetry. The poetry of war.

*Author's note: This is my last page of playing "catch up." Once again, pure laziness, and lack of ambition has caught up with me again. I would like to say that I wish I could grow up. But that would be a terrible lie.

The Sex Pistols - Pretty Vacant

"The Sex Pistols are an iconic and highly influential English punk rock band, formed in London in 1975. The band originally comprised vocalist Johnny Rotten, guitarist Steve Jones, drummer Paul Cook and bassist Glen Matlock (later replaced by Sid Vicious). Although their initial career lasted only three years and produced only four singles and one studio album, the Sex Pistols have been described by the BBC as "the definitive English punk rock band." The Pistols are widely credited with initiating the punk movement in the United Kingdom and creating the first generation gap within rock and roll."

*I just love saying "Pretty Vacant."

GZA and RZA - I Gotcha Back

"GZA (IPA pronunciation: /dʒɪzʌ/), aka The Genius, (born Gary Grice August 22, 1966 in Brooklyn, New York City) is an American hip hop artist. He is most well known as a founding member of the seminal hip hop group the Wu-Tang Clan. In addition to appearing on all the Wu-Tang Clan albums he has released five solo albums and has appeared on many other Clanmate's solo releases."

*Also, I Gotcha Back was featured on one of my favorite movies - Smokin' Aces..

Lauryn Hill - Lost Ones

"Lauryn Noel Hill (born May 25, 1975) is an American singer, rapper, musician, record producer and film actress. She initially established her reputation as the vocal member and lone female of The Fugees. On August 25, 1998 she launched her solo career by releasing the critically acclaimed album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, bringing the then-emerging neo-soul genre to a wider commercial platform."

The Dirt: "On December 13, 2003, Hill shocked officials at a Christmas benefit concert at the Vatican by denouncing "corruption, exploitation, and abuses", in reference to the molestation of boys by Catholic priests in the United States of America and the cover-up of offenses by Catholic Church officials. Hill told the crowd of 7,000:

—I am sorry if I am about to offend some of you. I did not accept my invitation to celebrate with you the birth of Christ. Instead I ask you why you are not in mourning for him in this place? I want to ask you, what have you got to say about the lives you have broken? What about the families who were expecting God and instead were cheated by the Devil? Who feels sorry for them, the men, women and children damaged psychologically, emotionally and mentally by the sexual perversions and abuse carried out by the people they believed in? Holy God is a witness to the corruption of your leadership, of the exploitation and abuses which are the minimum that can be said for the clergy. There is no acceptable excuse to defend the church."

The Undertones - Teenage Kicks

"The Undertones are a Northern Irish punk/power pop band formed in Derry, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom in 1975. Their music was characterised by catchy, short, pop songs featuring buzzsaw guitars, a steady beat and singer Feargal Sharkey's quavering delivery."

Iron & Wine - Pagan Angel And A Borrowed Car

Iron & Wine - The Devil Never Sleeps

"The third full-length Iron & Wine album, titled The Shepherd's Dog, was released on September 25, 2007. Contributors include Joey Burns and Paul Niehaus of Calexico, as well as jazz musicians Matt Lux and Rob Burger."

Jack - Suicide Man

*Jack - was or is a band I found on myspace. I have found very little literature on them. I downloaded the song a long time ago, and I haven't found them on 'my friendlist' for quite sometime. There are a couple bands named Jack. One that I have read about come from the UK. Anyway, I just really like the song. Suicide Man has a very distinguished garage quality that I love. The lyrics are bizarre and twisted. things I enjoy when hearing obscure things...

Deftones - Around The Fur

When Stephen Carpenter was sixteen years old, he was confined to a wheelchair for several months after a skateboarding accident. It was during this time that he began to teach himself how to play guitar, as he was no longer able to skateboard. It is often rumored that the money from this accident afforded Carpenter "state of the art" equipment. But in an interview with Metal Edge (January 2007), drummer Abe Cunningham commented that it was, "a myth about how our band was started." Moreno was able to land an audition after a relative happened upon Carpenter's garage and was impressed with what he heard as he walked by."

*Deftones just f*cking rock!

Busta Rhymes - As I Come Back

"Trevor Smith (born on May 20, 1972), better known as Busta Rhymes, is an American hip hop musician and actor. Chuck D of Public Enemy gave him the name Busta Rhymes (from former NFL wide receiver George "Buster" Rhymes) after watching him perform."

Some Dirt: "On August 20, 2006, he was arraigned for charges of third-degree assault after attacking a man who reportedly spat on his car in New York City on August 12 after the AmsterJam Music Festival on Randalls Island.

On October 24, 2006, he appeared at Manhattan Criminal Court as the district attorney's office attempted to amend previous charges against him to include weapons possession for a machete found in his car. The judge, ShawnDya Simpson, refused to add the charge and adjourned the case."
